Cantobre is a hamlet of twenty houses in the town of Nant, located in the valley of the Dourbie, at the foot of Causse Begon.

 

 

 

Cantobre is so picturesque that the hamlet appears on the tourist signs along the A75 motorway as the emblem of the Dourbie Gorge.

 

 

 To reach Cantobre :

 

from Toulouse (200 km, about 2h30):

 

 

go through Albi, take direction Millau, cross Saint Affrique (you will pass under Roquefort), arrived at St Rome de Cernon, take direction La Cavalerie - A75 motorway (D999). Before the Cavalry, you will pass on the A75 (2 roundabouts) and take the Nant direction at the crossroads of Les Halles (straight at the stop). You will cross the Causse du Larzac and descend into the Dourbie Valley to Nant. At the stop, turn left towards Roques St Marguerite (D991) and follow the river for 5 km. After the hamlet of Cuns, you will pass the campsite "Val de Cantobre". You will already see the hamlet perched on its rocky spur and you will take the road to Trier up to Cantobre (D145).

  

 

from Montpellier (120 km, about 1h30):

 

take the A75 towards Clermont-Ferrand, after Lodève, you climb the Causse du Larzac and leave the motorway at the Cavalerie exit. In the village, take direction Nant at the crossroads halls (D999). You will cross the Causse du Larzac and descend into the Dourbie Valley to Nant. At the crossroads in Nant, turn left towards Roques St Marguerite (D991) and follow the river for 5 km. After the hamlet of Cuns, you will pass the campsite "Val de Cantobre". Arrived under the hamlet perched on its rocky outcrop, you will take the road (D145) on your right to climb to Cantobre.

 

 

from Clermont Ferrand (200 km, about 2h30):

 

 

 

take the A75 motorway south to Millau, where you can either, before the bridge, go down to town and take the Dourbie road (D991) for 25 km. After Roques St Marguerite, you will pass the Moulin de Corps and continue along the river until you reach to small road (D145) which gives you access to the perched hamlet of Cantobre, over the Dourbie.

 

Another possibility in Millau is to stay on the motorway, to take the famous bridge and go out at the Cavalerie exit where you will take direction Nant (D999) at the crossroads of Les Halles. You will cross the Causse du Larzac and descend into the Dourbie Valley to Nant. At the crossroads, turn left towards Roques St Marguerite (D991) and follow the river for 5 km. After the hamlet of Cuns, you will pass the campsite "Val de Cantobre". Arrived under the hamlet perched on its rocky outcrop, you will take the road to drive up to Cantobre (D145).
